Regulations
Governing the Conduct of Examinations:
Eligibility
for Examinations
-
No
candidate shall be admitted to any examination in any subject
if the Dean of the Faculty is not satisfied that the candidate
has completed by attendance and otherwise the requirements of
the course. If such a candidate enters the examination room and
sits for the paper his/her results in that paper will be declared
null and void.
-
Senate may require a candidate whose work or progress is considered
unsatisfactory on the recommendation of the Faculty Board, to
withdraw from the University or to repeat any part of the course
before admission to an examination.
Absence
from Examinations
- A
candidate, who deliberately absents himself/herself from examinations
without compelling reasons, shall be discontinued from the University.
-
No student will be allowed to postpone examinations except under
special circumstances. Permission to postpone examinations will
be considered after producing satisfactory evidence of the reasons
for postponement. Such special circumstances shall include:
-
Sickness
-
Serious social problems (each case to be considered on its
own merit).
-
Severe sponsorship problem.
-
Permission to postpone examinations will only be granted by the
Dean of the Faculty upon receipt of a written request from the
student that has been routed through the Academic Adviser and
the Head of Department.
-
Where permission to postpone examinations is based on medical
grounds, the student should enclose as evidence a signed opinion
of a qualified medical practitioner from either the University
Health Centre or the Muhimbili National Hospital. The opinion
of a medical practitioner from any other hospital will not be
considered.
Examination
Irregularities
-
No unauthorized material shall be allowed into the examination room.
-
Senate shall discontinue from studies any candidate who will be
found to have brought unauthorized material into the examination
room during any part of the examination process.
-
Any candidate who will be found to have cheated in any part of
the examination shall be deemed to have failed in the whole of
that examination for that year and shall be discontinued from
the University, subject to confirmation by Senate.
Appeals
-
Except where unfair marking or other like irregularity in the
conduct of any University Examination is alleged, no appeal shall
lie in respect of any such examination on any other grounds.
-
Where an appeal involves remarking, students are strongly advised
to seek for such remarking as soon as the host department releases
provisional results.
